Anyway, it is a SOHO device, we aren't actually supposed to run it in such environment. I don't know why the developers don't give much attention to it since it makes a router quite unusubale in the enterprise. I just wanted someone to confirm that this is a known issue. There is a script in my posting of the issue from way earlier (I cannot link it from where I am now, so you will have search it) that will restart the nas process every 30 minutes or so to keep it working. The network is surprisingly slow, but maybe this is what I can expect from a home router on a residential ISP a continent away. (Restarting the router restarts the process and therefore fixes the problem until it comes up again) Other people had issues with OpenVPN in this DD-WRT build anyway and I could get PPTP working on a newer build, DD-WRT v24-sp2 (01/24/13) mini. If a client gets rejected, the nas process (one that controls WPA) crashes until its restarted. Its a known issue but the developers have not acknoledged it at all. But I doubt the problem is in that since it works just fine with WPA-PSK. The only feature I use DD-WRT for is the ability to use it as a DHCP forwarder. That issue is related to self signed certificates so if you want this to work quickly then buy a valid certificate online.Do you have any progress on this issue? I am experiencing the same problem with exactly the same infrastructure (WPA Enterprise with TKIP/AES, IAS, EAP-PEAP-MSCHAPv2) - some clients connect successfully, but occassionally some refuse to connect and only a reboot of the AP fixes it.

That seems to instantly fix the issues I ran into.Īs for getting Windows clients to work with freeradius and pfSense. If you are sure that you have the configurations correct than the first thing you should do is reflash your DD-WRT router with a more recent (or a different) build number. You should see a line like the one at the bottom that contains something like “Auth: Login OK:” If you don’t see anything in this log then you likely have a problem with DD-WRT. Then show the radius log with the following command
Login to the pfSense shell with option 8)Shell If you get login failures or rejected login messages try looking at the pfsense radius log first to see if dd-wrt is at least trying to authenticate. Save and Apply all of your settings and then try logging into your new radius wireless network. Goto Wireless -> Wireless Security and select the following option in the screenshot while using the pfSense LAN ip address that you setup previously.ġ1.

DD-WRT (build 25974) - Setup 4/29/16 7:55 PM Firmware: DD-WRT v24-sp2. Goto the Settings tab and make sure that LAN is selected for Listening interface and note the port number (default: 1812)Ĩ. Goto the Clients tab and create a new client that will be used to link DD-WRT as a client to pfSense (for my setup, I used the IP address 192.168.1.2 since that is the address assigned to my testing access point) also enter a secure Shared Secret password that will also be entered in DD-WRTħ. Create a new test user with a username and password that will be used by your mobile computer or device to login to the wireless networkĦ.

I am using VirtualBox on Ubuntu Linux but since VirtualBox can be easily installed on Windows, Mac or Linux, it’s perfect for quick testing anywhere.

PfSense is a pretty easy setup so go over to and download the LiveCD with installer and either setup a physical machine or use your favorite virtual machine software to create a test environment.
